Estate & Trust Administration

When a loved one passes you not only have to deal with grief and other emotions, but the paperwork and legal requirements necessary to settle an estate can be overwhelming. Hastings Law, LLC is here to make that process easier.

The appointment as an executor is not a ceremonial position; it can be time consuming, emotionally draining and confusing. Just a few of the common tasks involved can consist of asset and debt identification, will probate, filing of tax returns, and the disposition of assets following the individual's will or law.

The same can be said for the individual appointed as a Trustee, however this responsibility can last a lot longer. Notices, tax returns, income payments, and discretionary distributions can all be part of this responsibility.

Hastings Law, LLC is available to help with these burdens and can take you through the full process while taking advantage of any planning and tax options that may be beneficial.

Some of the most common areas that Hastings Law, LLC can assist you in are:

  • Filing the Register of Wills or Surrogate Petition and Inventory

  • Managing Estate/Trust Assets

  • Filing Tax Returns

  • Handling Debts and Expenses

  • Funding Bequests

  • Working with Heirs

  • Closing the Estate

If you have been named the Executor or Administrator of an estate or trust, an initial consultation with Hastings LLC can save you both time and money. Give us a call at (215) 230-4300.

After my parents passed away a month apart, the adult children learned there was no will which turned a sad situation into a very difficult one. Because my siblings and I didn’t see eye-to-eye when it came to specific areas of the estate, I found myself in a situation where I needed to protect what was rightfully mine.

I was referred to Brook and I’m glad I called her. From our first phone call, she really eased my anxiety. She dealt with not only the estate attorney hired by the siblings, but also with some very nasty communications from my own family. Brook did all this with professionalism and quickly made everyone realize she had a great deal of experience with estate law and was able to work for a common goal.

I don’t know what I would have done without her as I was ready to let my siblings have what ever they wanted. But in the end, everything was distributed properly and with fairness. I’ve already referred her to about 5 friends and associates who have been very happy with her services as well!

Thank you Brook!

Robert D

P.S. After all this, we had Brook handle our wills, power of attorneys and living wills.
